Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry describes a whole group of techniques that are designed to improve the aesthetic appearance of your mouth, and give you a beautiful smile.

The most well-known of these techniques is, of course, tooth whitening.

This treatment consists of applying a hydrogen peroxide based product onto the teeth. This diffuses though the tooth enamel, lightening the colour of the pigments, which in turn changes the the shade of the teeth. One of two techniques can be used:

  • The in-chairwhitening method uses a concentrated gel, which is applied to the teeth and left to activate under the light over several 20 minutes sessions;
  • Using personalised home whitening trays allows you to whiten your teeth at home, under the guidance of your dentist, by applying a whitening gel inside a custom-made tray.

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made, shells of porcelain or composite resin bonded to the teeth using a special cement. These improve the appearance of chipped or irregularly shaped teeth, or of those not treatable through normal tooth-whitening methods.

It is sometimes necessary to use other treatments, such as periodontics, orthodontics or fixed prosthesis to restore a beautiful smile.
